Reporting to the Site Manager, the Operation Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant execution of daily manufacturing operations within the explosives production facility. The incumbent plans, coordinates and supervises production activities to achieve safety, quality, productivity and operational performance objectives. The Operations Supervisor provides leadership to the production team by fostering a strong safety culture, developing employees, promoting continuous improvement and ensuring operational excellence. The role works closely with Maintenance, Quality, Safety, Logistics and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient site operations.
Roles & Responsibilities
· Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, company policies and regulatory requirements.
· Plan, organize, supervise and coordinate daily production activities to ensure safe, efficient and timely operations.
· Manage and supervise a team of approximately 15 to 20 employees while fostering a safe, collaborative and productive work environment.
· Serve as a role model for the site's Health, Safety and Environmental culture.
· Monitor operational performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to achieve production objectives.
· Collaborate with the Maintenance and Quality teams to resolve operational issues, improve processes and maximize equipment reliability
· Collaborate closely with the Logistics Supervisor to coordinate loading, unloading and shipping activities, ensuring the efficient flow of operations while supporting production schedules.
· Optimize the use of personnel, equipment and production resources to improve operational efficiency.
· Participate in employee recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluations and identify training and development needs.
· Coach, motivate and support employees while promoting accountability, teamwork and professional development.
· Manage employee performance and workplace issues in a fair, respectful and timely manner.
· Prepare production reports and communicate operational information to management and other departments.
· Lead daily team meetings, including safety discussions and operational updates.
· Respond effectively to operational challenges and changing production priorities.
· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, productivity and operational performance.
· Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained throughout the facility.
· Perform all other related tasks.
Required Qualifications
· A post-secondary degree or diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Minimum five (5) years of experience in a supervision/management role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
· Experience working in a highly regulated industry (an asset).
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams) and with ERP or manufacturing management systems.
· Have no legal impediments related to employment.
· Be familiar with explosive products and regulations regarding the transport of hazardous materials (an asset).

Conditions of Employment
· Permanent position, full time.
· 12-hour shifts for 7 consecutive days followed by 7 days off.
· 44-hour work week (Sunday to Saturday) with paid overtime after 44 hours.
