Job Overview
We are seeking dedicated and knowledgeable HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Advisors to join our team. The HSE Advisor will be responsible to provide advice, consultation and guidance to all personnel in compliance with Muehlhan Wind Service Canada's Safety Management System (SMS) on construction projects across Canada. This role will ensure compliance, identify & mitigate workplace hazards. You will foster a positive safety culture throughout each worksite.
Duties
- Promote company safety culture through coaching, development, influence, and training.
- Inspect work areas to verify consistency with procedural, client, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist Safety Lead/Manager with Incident Investigations to determine Root Cause and recommend appropriate Corrective Actions.
- Support the development of Incident Reports.
- Drive implementation of proposed Corrective Actions to completion.
- Reinforce safe behaviors and correct “at risk” behaviors.
- Ensure all site team members understand standard operating procedures.
- Lead and support the site team in technical, quality and safety, utilizing system in place.
- Operate company vehicle to drive to various site locations
- Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude
- Assist in the development and maintenance of site-specific documentation and templates that include the Site Safety Plan, Site Rules, Emergency Response Plans, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and Site Induction
- Participate in safety related discussions at Plan of the Day (POD) Meetings, All Hands Meetings, Safety Committee Meetings, Staff Meetings, Tailgate Meetings, and Client/Owner Monthly Meetings
- Deliver training on Safety Initiatives, Site Induction, Work Procedures, Work Instructions, SMS, and regulatory requirements
- Assist in maintenance of incident data and safety metrics to compile reports
- Procure, distribute, and maintain safety related tools and equipment for the project
- Perform ad hoc job-related duties/functions and projects to support the HSE Department
- Experienced in collaboration, teamwork, communication
- Support the HSE Lead
Qualifications
- Diploma in occupational health and safety would be an asset
- Minimum of three (3) years experience Safety Construction and/or Wind Industry
- Intermediate First Aid
- NCSO Designation or equivalent is highly preferred
- Familiar with ANSI/CSA/NSC & Provincial OHS regulations and standards
- Fall Prevention/Rescue/Confined Space Training (preferred)
- Hazard Identification and Assessment Training
- Electrical Safety Training
- Coaching, Mentoring, and Training
- Experience working with Mobile Equipment and Cranes
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience working with Health and Safety Incident Management Software
- Functional competencies include collaboration, teamwork, communication, casting the right shadow, and passion
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 70 per week
