Junior Systems Administrator Profile:
Description
The Junior Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our client's IT infrastructure, including networks, security, applications, and user support. You will provide level 1 and 2 support, manage user accounts, and maintain critical systems.
Responsibilities
- Level 1 and 2 incident and service request support
- Network administration (firewalls, routers, Wi-Fi)
- Server and storage administration (physical, virtual, cloud)
- Endpoint management (desktops, laptops, mobile devices)
- Security administration (firewalls, intrusion detection, access control)
- Application administration (installation, configuration, troubleshooting)
- Asset management (software and network inventory)
- Knowledge management (documentation, training materials)
- Project support (technical expertise for project managers)
- Continuous improvement (investigate and recommend improvements)
- Collaboration with IT team, partners, vendors, and end-users
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Summary:
Reporting to the IT System administrator – Information Technology, will work with the Systems Administration team in automating processes and providing client support in on-premises and cloud technologies.
The technical knowledge desired includes Active Directory, Azure, Office 365, Exchange, SharePoint, Intune, VMware, Powershell, Networking, IT Infrastructure, DRP, Backups and Cybersecurity.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to and prioritize requests for technical support or assistance
- Identify and analyze support issues, determining cause, resolution, and potential trends
- Work with senior members in automating software installation and processes
- Provide guidance and recommendations on the most effective use of technology
- Facilitate relationships with external organizations regarding technical issues and software functionality
- Prepare/maintain procedural, educational, or related documentation/communications
- Follow established standard work and best practices; define new standard work as appropriate
- Install or assist in the installation and maintenance of technical equipment and/or software Perform other similar and related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in IT or related field (required)
- ITIL Foundation, Cobit, NIST
- Microsoft, Sophos, VMware, ERP, MDM
- 5+ years' experience in network-system administration (large organization, 250+ users)
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365, firewalls, security tools, IT service management
- Experience with Windows desktops/servers, endpoint management (RMM, Intune)
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and business applications
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
Experience in technical support role involving on-prem and cloud technology, including:
- Active Directory and Azure AD
- Office 365, Exchange, File server and SharePoint
- Windows client and server OS
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
