General Description:
The Academic Administrative Assistant will work within the Niitsitapi Educational Assistant Certificate Program at Red Crow Community College, assisting staff, students and community members. Some roles and responsibilities include answering telephones, transferring calls, addressing queries from students, staff, and community members, working closely with students as an educational assistant, photocopying, sending and receiving mail, keeping detailed records, assisting instructors and students, work closely with the Department Lead on various clerical and administrative duties. This person must possess exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. The Academic Administrative Assistant must be very organized, have a strong work ethic, proficient computer skills, the ability to try new systems, and a willingness to learn.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform general clerical duties within the Niitsitapi Educational Assistant Certificate Program.
- Deal with queries from students, staff and the community;
- Serving as an Educational Assistant for the students enrolled in the program,
- Work with Program Lead and instructors to assist students success in the program
- Assist instructors with classes and student information;
- File and manage student information and data of students registered in the program.
- Work with other departments within Red Crow Community College;
- To respond to requests in a timely manner;
- To maintain confidentiality of information;
- To maintain professional relationships with students, instructors, and members of the Red Crow Community College;
Necessary Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
- College Diploma in a relevant discipline required;
- A minimum of three years of administrative support in a post-secondary educational setting is required;
- Knowledge of administrative service principles and practices;
- Demonstrate proficiency in office experience through computer skills that include word processing and spreadsheets, the use of a database, web content management system, and other systems that may apply to the educational institution;
- A working knowledge of Blackfoot language and understanding of First Nations culture is an asset.
