About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a skilled Compact Equipment Technician to join their service team in Truro, NS. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining compact construction equipment, including skid-steer loaders, mini excavators, and other light-duty machinery. The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a customer-facing service environment.
This position plays a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting both service and sales operations. In addition to repair and maintenance work, the technician will assist with warranty repairs and the preparation of equipment for customer delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on compact equipment
- Perform repairs and component replacements to manufacturer and industry standards
- Complete routine and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment performance and safety
- Carry out warranty repairs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and documentation requirements
- Prepare new and used equipment for delivery, ensuring units are fully serviced, clean, and ready for customers
- Communicate directly with customers to explain repairs, provide status updates, and address service questions
- Coordinate with parts and service teams to ensure timely availability of required components
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations, company procedures, and industry best practices
- Collaborate with service, parts, and sales teams to deliver efficient and high-quality service
- Troubleshoot issues efficiently to minimize equipment downtime
- Maintain up-to date knowledge of products, technical updates, and new technologies through ongoing training
- Support other departments as required and assist with special projects
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and a positive company image at all times
What We're Looking For
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience repairing compact or heavy equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and specifications
- Solid understanding of machine systems, tools, and repair techniques
- Proficiency with safe operation of hand and power tools
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills
- Excellent verbal communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Adaptable and open to learning new technologies and equipment
- Valid driver’s license required
- First Aid and CPR certification considered an asset
