Pay at a Glance
Setup shift: $18–$20/hr
Strike shift: $27–$30/hr (1.5x overtime rate)
Total shift length: approx. 6–7 hrs per event date (maybe more), paid at the end of event day.
About the Role
Tilted Space is looking for physically capable, reliable people to join our event décor crew for the 2026 season. You'll be doing real hands-on work — carrying and assembling large floral arches, hauling equipment, lifting and securing structural installations, setting candles, hanging draping, and styling décor — then returning at the end of the night to carefully break everything down and load it out. This is a great fit for someone who can work hard, move fast, and take direction well as part of a small team. Dates are select weekends from June through September.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carrying, positioning, and assembling large floral arches and structural décor pieces
- Loading and unloading equipment from vehicles; moving heavy items throughout the venue
- Hanging, draping, and securing fabric installations and backdrops
- Placing and styling floral arrangements, centrepieces, and decorative elements
- Setting candles, votives, and lighting accents throughout the venue
- Following lead direction to execute décor layouts accurately and on time
- Handling all items with care — many pieces are large, heavy, or delicate
- Returning at midnight for strike — carefully disassembling, packing down, and loading out all décor
Shift Breakdown
Afternoon — Setup shift (~11am–4pm or 1–5pm) $18–$20/hr Arrive, unload, build, and style the venue space
Evening — Off-clock Event runs — no requirement to stay
~Midnight — Strike shift (approx. 1–2 hrs) $27–$30/hr (1.5x overtime) Return to disassemble, pack down, and load out all décor
PLEASE NOTE: Strike attendance is mandatory. Crew members must return at midnight for teardown on every event date they are scheduled.
What We're Looking For
- Available for select dates between June and September
- Committed to both the afternoon setup and midnight strike on scheduled event dates
- Physically fit and comfortable with sustained manual labour — this role involves heavy lifting, carrying large structures, and being on your feet for hours
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; comfortable moving bulky or awkward loads (arches, frames, crates)
- Comfortable working at heights on a ladder
- Basic knowledge of hand tools (wrench, screwdrivers, glue guns, etc.)
- Detail-oriented with care for handling delicate décor items
- Punctual, reliable, and easy to work with on a team
- Able to follow direction and work efficiently under time pressure
- Interest or experience in events, florals, construction, or décor is a bonus — not required
