Reporting to the General Manager, the Kitchen Manager oversees all aspects of kitchen operations, including food quality, food safety, labour management, inventory control, budgeting, team development, and guest satisfaction. You will play a key role in ensuring memorable dining experiences while driving operational efficiency and profitability.

As Kitchen Manager, you are responsible for creating an environment where quality food, exceptional guest experiences, and strong teamwork come together. You lead by example, work alongside your team when needed, and ensure kitchen operations run efficiently while meeting financial and operational goals.

- Ensure all food is prepared, presented, and served to established quality standards
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen cleanliness
- Respond to guest feedback and identify opportunities to improve the dining experience
- Conduct regular inspections of kitchen, banquet, and food service areas
- Collaborate with hotel leadership to deliver exceptional guest experiences
- Support menu development, features, and operational improvements
- Manage labour scheduling based on business levels and forecasted occupancy
- Control food and labour costs while maintaining quality and service standards
- Oversee inventory management, purchasing, receiving, and product utilization
- Minimize waste through effective ordering, rotation, labeling, and storage practices
- Monitor departmental performance against approved budgets
- Identify efficiencies and implement cost-saving initiatives when appropriate
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop kitchen team members
- Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable workplace culture
- Recognize and celebrate team successes and achievements
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching conversations, and development planning
- Lead regular team meetings and ensure clear communication across the department
- Promote teamwork, professionalism, and continuous learning
- Ensure compliance with all Nova Hotels policies, procedures, and brand standards
- Maintain safe working conditions and promote a strong safety culture
- Ensure all food handling practices meet applicable food safety regulations
- Report and address maintenance, safety, security, and operational concerns promptly
- Lead by example in hygiene, cleanliness, and workplace safety practices
- High School Diploma required
- Red Seal Certification considered a strong asset
- CCFCC designation considered an asset
- 3 to 5 years of progressive culinary experience
- Previous supervisory or management experience in a hospitality environment
- Experience managing food and labour costs
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing teams
- Strong leadership and team-building abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and cost controls
- Commitment to food quality, guest satisfaction, and operational excellence
