As a Lead Barista, your duties include, but are not limited to:
Team Leadership & Training
- Lead & Motivate: Communicate daily goals effectively and keep the team motivated during high-volume periods.
- Lead by Example: Demonstrate excellence in drink/food prep, guest hospitality, and teamwork.
- Training: Onboard and train new baristas on café systems and SOPs.
- Culture: Maintain a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Café Operations & Maintenance
- Open & Close: Act as the first/last person on-site; delegate and complete opening/closing checklists.
- Quality & Standards: Ensure strict compliance with service, product delivery, and customer relations standards.
- Merchandising: Maintain the Café Kitsuné merchandise display (cleanliness, stocking, pricing).
- Facility & Inventory: Keep FOH/BOH clean (monitor DOH checklist), flag low inventory, and report equipment maintenance needs.
Financials & Reporting
- Cash Management: Count/close the cash drawer and secure deposits in the safe.
- Reporting: Complete End of Day (EOD) reports/emails and share feedback for weekly management meetings.
Profile :
Strong leadership skills with the ability to support and motivate the team during busy rushes.
Proven experience in specialty coffee, including dialing-in espresso, V60 brewing, latte art, milk texturing, and maintaining high coffee quality standards.
Exceptional communication skills and professionalism with both teammates and guests.
Full flexibility with scheduling to meet operational needs, including weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve high-quality coffee beverages and food items in accordance with company standards.
- Oversee daily cafe operations, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to safety protocols.
- Lead and motivate team members to deliver excellent customer service consistently.
- Manage cash handling, cashiering duties, and POS transactions using Micros POS systems accurately.
- Assist in training new staff on food safety, food handling, proper serving techniques, and POS usage.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, including food preparation stations and customer seating areas.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and health standards at all times.
- Handle customer inquiries or complaints professionally, striving to resolve issues promptly.
- Support inventory management by monitoring stock levels and communicating needs to management.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Barista or in food service with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of POS systems, particularly Micros POS preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse customers.
- Effective time management skills to handle busy periods efficiently.
- Basic math skills for cash handling, register balancing, and order accuracy.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Previous experience in serving, food preparation, or cashiering is highly desirable.
