Support Services Manager – Seniors Care
Location: Lethbridge, Alberta
We are seeking an experienced, motivated Support Services Manager, CSNM to oversee the essential non-clinical departments of a senior care home, including dietary / food services, housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance.
This leadership role is crucial to maintaining a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment that enhances residents’ quality of life.
Support Services Manager, Key Responsibilities:
- Support Services Manager, CSNM manages daily operations, scheduling, and performance of support services staff
- Support Services Manager, CSNM ensure compliance with food safety, infection control, and environmental sanitation regulations
- SSM, oversees budgets related to food costs, equipment, and supplies
- Support Services Manager, CSNM leads hiring, training, and evaluations in line with labor agreements
- Support Services Manager, CSNM collaborates with nursing and administration to meet resident dietary needs and address feedback
- Support Services Manager, CSNM maintains emergency preparedness and building safety standards
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Food and Nutrition Management, Hospitality, or related field
- Current membership or certification with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM) required
- 2–5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in long-term care or healthcare settings
- Strong knowledge of infection control, OH&S legislation, budgeting, and conflict resolution

The Support Services Manager, CSNM, plays a vital leadership role within healthcare support operations, overseeing patient care coordination, administrative functions, and team management. This position requires a dynamic individual with strong organizational skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of medical and administrative processes. The ideal candidate will possess experience in healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, or home care environments, and demonstrate proficiency in project management, process improvement, and human resources. Bilingual skills in English and French are highly valued to facilitate effective communication with diverse patient populations and staff. Duties
- Oversee daily operations of support services within the healthcare facility, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
- Manage patient care coordination including case management, patient flow, and service delivery to optimize patient outcomes.
- Supervise and mentor staff members, including scheduling, performance evaluations, training, and professional development initiatives.
- Coordinate with medical professionals to facilitate effective communication regarding patient needs and treatment plans.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for reporting, presentations, scheduling, and data analysis.
- Implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and service quality through change management strategies.
- Conduct research and analysis to support decision-making processes related to resource allocation and workflow optimization.
- Manage budgets and oversee administrative functions such as staffing logistics, documentation accuracy, and compliance reporting.
- Lead negotiations with vendors or external partners when necessary to secure resources or services aligned with organizational goals.
- Promote a culture of excellent customer service by fostering teamwork and ensuring staff deliver compassionate patient care across various settings including assisted living, hospice care, or acute care facilities.
Experience
- Proven supervisory experience in healthcare support services or administrative roles within hospitals, nursing homes, or home care agencies.
- Demonstrated expertise in project management, process improvement initiatives, and change management within complex environments.
- Strong background in medical terminology along with familiarity with electronic health records systems such as Dentrix or similar platforms.
- Experience working with diverse populations in senior care settings including assisted living or hospice environments is preferred.
- Exceptional organizational skills combined with effective time management to handle multiple priorities efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and French are highly desirable for facilitating bilingual interactions with patients and staff.
