The Senior Bookkeeper is responsible for leading all financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and strategic financial guidance that supports Merit Metals & Alloys Inc. This role oversees budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, cost accounting, payroll, and regulatory compliance, while partnering closely with senior leadership to drive financial performance and operational efficiency within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute the month-end close process, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and on time
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of the monthly financial reporting package for management and stakeholders
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process by gathering financial data, analyzing trends, and preparing variance reports
- Participate in the year-end audit process, coordinating with external auditors and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
- Oversee full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of transactions
- Assist in developing and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support business decision-making
- Handle other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent designation preferred but not required).
- 3+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, ideally in manufacturing, metals, or industrial sectors.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and financial controls.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel/financial modeling skills.
- Excellent analytical ability, attention to detail, and communication skills.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
