Working alongside the leadership team and reporting to the Director of Programs, the Shelter Program Supervisor will oversee daily operations of the Sunrise House Shelter Program. The Shelter Program Supervisor is responsible for the overall coordination, administration, and supervision of shelter operations and programming. This role ensures the delivery of safe, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and client-centered services to individuals accessing shelter supports. The Program Supervisor oversees staff supervision, program quality, risk management, community partnerships, and compliance with organizational policies, funder expectations, and accreditation standards.

Role & Responsibilities:
Program Operations
- Oversee daily shelter operations to ensure safe, effective, and consistent service delivery.
- Ensure programs operate in alignment with organizational mission, policies, and accreditation standards.
- Monitor occupancy, service utilization, program outcomes, and client flow.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate shelter programming and supports.
- Ensure appropriate crisis response and de-escalation practices are followed.
- Participate in on-call management rotation as required.
Staff Supervision and Leadership
- Recruit, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate program staff.
- Support staff development through regular supervision, feedback, and performance management.
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and psychologically safe work environment.
- Schedule staff to ensure adequate program coverage.
Client Care and Service Delivery
- Ensure services are trauma-informed, strength-based, and client-centered.
- Support staff in managing complex client situations, behavioral concerns, and crisis interventions.
- Ensure appropriate intake, assessment, case planning, documentation, and discharge processes.
- Promote culturally responsive practices and support for diverse populations, including Indigenous peoples, LGBTQ2S+ individuals, and youth.
- Ensure client rights, confidentiality, dignity, and safety are maintained.
Community and Stakeholder Relations
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies, government partners, schools, healthcare providers, and emergency services.
- Represent the organization at meetings, committees, and community events.
- Support advocacy efforts related to homelessness, housing stability, and community wellbeing.
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Child and Youth Care, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in shelter services, housing, social services, or related human service environments.
- Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, crisis intervention, and homelessness systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with high-risk or vulnerable populations.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, confidentiality requirements, and professional ethics.
- Proficiency with documentation systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Proven ethical practice using a high level of integrity, professionalism, discretion, and good judgment.
- Ability to inspire confidence, establish credibility within their team, and work in a collaborative, solutions-focused manner.
- A strong work ethic, combining energy, creativity, enthusiasm, and initiative to exceed expectations.
Pay: $60,000.00-$67,000.00 per year
