We are moving away from the traditional, rigid clinic model to focus on natural environment teaching, compassionate care, and meaningful caregiver collaboration. We are currently looking for a passionate and engaging Supervised Behavioural Therapist to join our team and work directly with the amazing children and families we serve.
The Role
As a Supervised Behavioural Therapist at Avoria, you are the heart of our day-to-day services. Working directly in our clients' homes, you will provide one-on-one ABA therapy under the close mentorship and supervision of a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA).
You will be responsible for bringing our individualized programs to life, turning everyday routines and play into meaningful learning opportunities. If you are creative, patient, energetic, and love celebrating small victories, this role is for you!
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Therapy: Deliver engaging, one-on-one ABA therapy in the child’s natural environment (home and community settings).
- Program Implementation: Implement highly individualized programs designed by the supervising BCBA/RBA, focusing on communication, play, social skills, and activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Play-Based Learning: Utilize Natural Environment Teaching (NET) and play-based strategies to make learning fun, motivating, and highly relevant to the child's real life.
- Data Collection: Collect accurate, daily data on your client's progress using our designated data collection method and graph data.
- Collaboration: Participate in regular team meetings and overlapping supervision sessions with your RBA to ensure the highest quality of care.
- Family Connection: Maintain a warm, professional, and supportive relationship with parents and caregivers.
Qualifications
- Education: A diploma or degree in Autism and Behavioural Science, Psychology, Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child and Youth Care, or a related field.
- Experience: Previous hands-on experience working with children or youth with autism and developmental disabilities.
- Skills: High energy, creativity, and the ability to adapt to a child’s changing needs and interests. Excellent time-management and communication skills.
- Logistics: A valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, or the willingness to travel by public transit to clients' homes within the designated service area.
- Requirements: A clear and current Vulnerable Sector Police Check and professional liability insurance, up-to-date First Aid, CPR.
