We are currently seeking an experienced Architectural Sheet Metal Lead Hand to join our team.
About the Role
The Architectural Sheet Metal Lead Hand plays an important leadership role within the crew and works closely with the Foreman to support safe, organized, and productive job sites.

Key Responsibilities
Crew Support & Leadership
- Support the Foreman with daily site operations
- Help organize crews, tasks, and workflow
- Lead by example through professionalism, work ethic, and attitude
- Assist with training and mentoring apprentices and newer workers
- Help ensure the crew understands daily expectations and work plans
- Promote teamwork and accountability on site
Safety Responsibilities
- Support safety-first planning and execution
- Participate in FLHAs, toolbox talks, and safety discussions
- Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, and near misses
- Ensure proper PPE and safe work practices are followed
- Help maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites
Production & Quality
- Install architectural sheet metal systems to a high standard
- Read and interpret drawings, layouts, and specifications
- Support layout, fabrication, and installation activities
- Help maintain Laing quality standards through attention to detail
- Assist with material organization and jobsite logistics
- Help reduce rework through communication and planning
Equipment & Accountability
- Respect and properly maintain company tools and equipment
- Assist with inspections and organization of company assets
- Help ensure vehicles, materials, and equipment are kept clean and organized
Qualifications
- Experience in Architectural Sheet Metal required
- Previous leadership or Lead Hand experience considered an asset
- Journeyman and/or Red Seal Certification considered a strong asset
- Ability to read drawings, specifications, and architectural details
- Strong understanding of sheet metal systems, layouts, and installation methods
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Ability to communicate clearly and work well with others
- Fall Protection certification required
- Valid driver’s license considered an asset
- Desire to grow into larger leadership responsibilities preferred
