Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional administrative support in a fast-paced medical or dental office, ensuring smooth daily operations. This role requires excellent communication skills, familiarity with electronic medical records, and a strong understanding of medical and dental terminology. The Medical Office Assistant will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointments, patient records, and administrative tasks with professionalism and efficiency.
Duties
- Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner at the front desk
- Manage multi-line phone systems to schedule appointments, answer inquiries, and relay messages
- Maintain and update electronic medical records using systems such as Epic and Dentrix
- Verify patient insurance information and process billing or payments as needed
- Assist with patient check-in and check-out procedures
- Prepare and organize patient charts, documentation, and other administrative files
- Coordinate with medical or dental staff to ensure timely patient flow and appointment scheduling
- Handle administrative tasks including data entry, faxing, scanning, and filing
- Support office operations by maintaining a clean and organized front desk area
Requirements
- Prior experience in a medical or dental office setting is highly preferred
- Proficiency with electronic medical records systems such as Epic or Dentrix
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and dental terminology
- Experience as a dental receptionist or in office administration is advantageous
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to manage multi-line phone systems efficiently
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Familiarity with office equipment and basic computer applications (MS Office suite)
- Previous experience working with electronic health records (EHR) is desirable
- Ability to work well under pressure in a busy healthcare environment
