Job Overview
Revelstoke Ski Club is seeking passionate and dedicated Freeride Coaches to join our team. This role involves instructing and mentoring youth skiers (10-18) in advanced freeride techniques, fostering a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in skiing, teaching, and safety protocols, with a commitment to developing athletes' skills and confidence on challenging terrains. Responsibilities
- Lead and instruct groups of skiers in freeride techniques across various skill levels
- Develop customized coaching plans tailored to individual athlete needs and goals
- Ensure all participants adhere to safety guidelines and proper technique during sessions
- Monitor weather conditions and terrain to plan appropriate coaching activities
- Foster a positive, motivating atmosphere that encourages skill development and teamwork
- Maintain equipment and ensure all safety gear is used correctly
- Promote the club’s values of safety, respect, and enjoyment of the sport
- Collaborate with other coaches and staff to organize training sessions, competitions, and events
Skills
- Proven experience in teaching skiing, particularly in freeride or advanced terrain environments
- Certifications from Alpine Canada or the CSIA
- Strong knowledge of skiing techniques, safety procedures, and risk management
- Excellent communication skills to effectively instruct and motivate participants
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods
- Passion for winter sports and promoting a positive sporting environment
- Ability to work as part of a team while also demonstrating leadership qualities
