Looking for upbeat personal customer service focused staff to join our team for a fun and exciting upcoming season.
Provide safe, efficient, customer-focused support for marina rental operations — including vessel/gear preparation, check-in/check-out, dock assistance, basic maintenance, safety checks, and cleanliness of marina facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Fuel customer and rental vessels
- Greet customers, verify reservations, complete check-in/check-out paperwork and collect payment as required.
- Brief renters on vessel/gear use, safety rules, capacity limits, lifejacket location and emergency procedures.
- Perform pre-rental and post-rental vessel inspections using checklist (fuel, battery, bilges, steering, bilge pump, lifejackets, fire extinguisher, hull condition); document findings and report defects.
- Prepare vessels for rental: charge batteries/phones, top up fuel (or confirm fuel level), stow equipment, secure covers.
- Assist with safe boarding, launching and docking of rental vessels; provide line handling and fender placement.
- Conduct basic cleaning and routine maintenance (wash decks, hose down, check fluid levels, battery charging, replace minor consumables).
- Tag out defective equipment and log maintenance requests; coordinate repairs with shore maintenance.
- Maintain inventory of safety equipment, lifejackets, spare batteries and consumables; reorder supplies as needed.
- Enforce marina and vessel rules (no alcohol, no smoking, passenger limits) and refuse service if safety compromised.
- Respond to on-water incidents/assistance requests; perform basic first aid and call emergency services (9-1-1) if required.
- Conduct daily safety checks, complete checklists and log entries; assist with monthly drills and training.
- Keep marina area, docks and rental office tidy and safe; remove hazards and report larger issues.
- Provide excellent customer service, answer questions about local waterways, and promote additional services.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior marina, boat rental, or small-craft handling experience preferred.
- Comfortable handling lines, fenders and basic boat maneuvering.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for routine checks and troubleshooting.
- Valid Marine First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid driver’s licence; boat operator certificate preferred where applicable.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in variable weather and lift up to ~25 kg (55 lb).
- Reliable, punctual, able to work weekends and holidays as required.
Working Conditions & Hours
- Seasonal/part-time or full-time depending on marina needs; shifts include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Outdoor work on docks and vessels; may involve exposure to sun, rain and cold.
- On-call responsibilities for incident response as assigned.
Performance Measures
- Accuracy and completeness of pre/post-rental checklists and logs.
- Low incidence of safety-related defects overlooked.
- Customer satisfaction ratings and repeat bookings.
- Timely reporting and tagging of defects and maintenance requests.
- Compliance with safety procedures and participation in drills.
Authority
- Refuse rental or boarding for safety reasons.
- Tag out equipment and withdraw vessels from service until repaired.
- Escalate incidents to Marina Manager / Operations Manager and Accountable Executive as required.
Training & Onboarding
- SMS induction, vessel familiarization, safety equipment location, SOPs, emergency procedures, customer-service training.
- Shadow shifts with experienced attendant prior to solo duty.
