About the Position:
Technica is seeking motivated Estimators to join our growing team. We welcome applicants from all experience levels, from junior to seasoned professionals. The Estimator will support operations with all activities related to the RFP/RFQ process, helping deliver accurate and competitive submissions.
The key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Work with engineering and project teams to perform trade-off studies.

Prepare technical documentation and reports in area of technical discipline.

Facilitate the bidding process from initiation to submission.

Compile detailed cost forecasts for bidding purposes.

Assemble material take-offs and cost estimates across multiple disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical, underground development, etc.).

Obtain material, subcontractor, and equipment pricing to be utilized in cost estimation.

Review and interpret scopes of work, analyze drawings, engineering specifications, and tender documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates and proposal documents.

Review construction drawings and project specifications for estimating purposes.

Assist in developing detailed project schedules and critical path timelines for proposals.

Analyze and conduct audits of past bids and ongoing/completed projects to compile key performance and cost data.

Conduct site visits to understand existing conditions and validate estimates.

Participate in bid strategy sessions with project and management teams.

Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to verify costs and availability of resources.

Maintain estimating databases, cost libraries, and standardized templates.

Provide input to risk assessments and contingency planning during bid development.

Assist with scope clarifications and requests for information (RFIs) during tender stages.

Monitor changes during the tender process and revise estimates accordingly.

Coordinate with operations, procurement, finance, and legal teams to align on bid requirements.

Prepare comprehensive bid submissions including technical and commercial proposals.

Support handover of successful bids to the execution team, ensuring continuity and understanding of scope and estimate assumptions.

Must be willing to travel to jobsites across Ontario when requested for site visits related to estimating and to project coordination tasks.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is considered an asset.

Strong understanding of underground and surface mining methods, equipment, and project workflows.

Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

Knowledge with estimating and scheduling software (e.g., MS Excel, MS Project, Hard Dollar, B2W Estimate, or similar).

Familiarity with AutoCAD, Deswik, or other CAD/design software is considered an asset.

Ability to perform detailed material take-offs and develop complete cost estimates.

Knowledge of construction and mining safety standards and regulations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.

Willing to work extended hours and able to travel to various mine sites for meetings and site visits as required

High Level knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, Project and Adobe.
