Help shape projects from first sketch to final site walk. ISL’s Landscape Architecture and Urban Design (LAUD) team is looking for a Junior-Intermediate Landscape Architectural Technologist with practical industry experience in landscape architecture production, design documentation, and construction drawing support. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation who is ready to contribute to real projects while continuing to grow within a collaborative studio environment.
You’ll join a 20+ person studio focused on landscape architecture, public realm, and site design across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. Our work spans parks, streetscapes, open spaces, mixed-use environments, and infrastructure projects that are design-led, technically rigorous, and rooted in context and long-term performance.

About the Role
Our Landscape Architecture and Urban Design studios are engaged from early concepts through construction. As a Technologist, your focus will be on technical production and project documentation, including coordinated drawing packages, design development, tender and construction drawings, planting plans, details, schedules, and project deliverables. You will work closely with landscape architects, designers, technologists, and multidisciplinary project teams, with opportunities to support construction review and contract administration activities under the guidance of senior staff.
In this role, you will:
- Prepare and coordinate landscape architecture drawings, including plans, sections, details, planting plans, schedules, and construction documentation.
- Work within established CAD and digital standards to produce accurate, organized, and well-coordinated drawing packages.
- Coordinate project information with landscape architects, technologists, and other disciplines to keep drawings, background files, and deliverables current.
- Support design development, tender, and construction documentation across a variety of landscape architecture, public realm, site design, and infrastructure projects.
- Assist with construction review and contract administration tasks, including site visit documentation, redlines, deficiency tracking, RFIs, submittals, and close-out documentation.
- Contribute to project deliverables while applying practical knowledge of landscape construction, grading, planting, and Western Canadian climate considerations.

You are a junior-intermediate technologist with a practical foundation in landscape architecture and a strong interest in producing high-quality technical work. You bring at least two years of industry experience and are comfortable preparing drawings, organizing project information, coordinating with team members, and supporting projects through design and construction documentation. You enjoy working in a studio environment and are looking for a role where you can contribute meaningfully while continuing to develop your technical and project delivery skills.

Your cover letter and resume should show us:
- Diploma or degree in Landscape Architectural Technology, Landscape Architecture, or a closely related program, combined with direct experience in landscape architecture project work.
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in the landscape architecture field, including preparation of landscape drawings, details, planting plans, and design/construction documentation.
- Working proficiency with AutoCAD is required.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks with guidance from senior staff.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with project teams, consultants, contractors, and clients.
- Experience with Alberta or Western Canadian landscape design standards, plant materials, construction practices, and climate considerations would be considered a strong asset.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites within Alberta would be considered an asset.
Assets:
- Eligibility for, or interest in working toward, registration as a Landscape Architectural Technologist (LAT) with the AALA.
- Experience with Civil 3D, Land F/X, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Revit, BIM360, or other design/visualization tools.
- Field exposure through previous roles, summer work, practicum, or construction-phase project support.
