Guiding Light Montessori is seeking reliable, caring, and enthusiastic Supply Early Childhood Assistants (ECAs) and Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) to join our team. Supply staff provide classroom coverage as needed and play an important role in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging Montessori learning environment for children.
Responsibilities
- Support the classroom team in implementing the daily Montessori program and routines.
- Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meal times, rest periods, and transitions.
- Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Support children's independence while providing guidance and encouragement using positive behaviour guidance strategies.
- Assist with classroom management and maintain a prepared, organized, and welcoming learning environment.
- Support children with individual needs and implement accommodations as required.
- Complete classroom cleaning and daily responsibilities in accordance with centre procedures.
- Follow all Ministry of Education licensing requirements, health and safety policies, and Guiding Light Montessori procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the daily operations of the centre.
Qualifications
- Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) certificate or Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (if applicable).
- Previous experience working in a licensed childcare setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of the Montessori philosophy and curriculum is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of child development and early learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, flexible, organized, and able to adapt to different classrooms and age groups.
- Passionate about supporting children's learning and development.
Requirements
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C.
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check (within the Ministry's required timeframe).
- Tuberculosis (TB) test completed within the last 12 months.
- Up-to-date immunization records, as required.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 22.7 kg (50 lbs).
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and sit on the floor for extended periods.
- Ability to assist children with toileting, diapering, dressing, and daily routines.
- Ability to participate in indoor and outdoor programming in all weather conditions.
- Ability to respond promptly and effectively in emergency situations.
