THE ROLE
STRIVE is partnering with a leading equipment rental company to hire a Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic for their London branch. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity working 100% in the shop, servicing and repairing a diverse fleet of construction equipment.
In this role, you'll inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair a wide range of heavy equipment, including earth-moving machinery, compaction equipment, aerial lifts, and forklifts. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced mechanic who enjoys hands-on work in a well-equipped shop environment and takes pride in delivering quality repairs while working alongside a supportive team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect, service, and repair a variety of construction equipment, including earth-moving equipment, compaction equipment, aerial lifts, and forklifts.
- Perform preventative maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related issues and complete required repairs.
- Test equipment following repairs to ensure proper operation and safety.
- Complete maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders accurately and on time.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
- Support apprentices and team members by sharing knowledge and best practices when needed.
- Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 3 years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy construction equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine repairs.
- Experience working on earth-moving equipment, compaction equipment, aerial lifts, and similar heavy equipment is preferred.
- Knowledge of diesel and gas engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
- Comfortable using computers and diagnostic software for service documentation.
- Willingness to work overtime and occasional Saturdays during the busy season.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work in a shop environment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills with the ability to work independently when required.
- Valid driver's license is considered an asset but not required.
- Must supply your own tools.
