The Revenue Manger is responsible for proactively identifying and maximizing the revenue that the hotel brings in on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis and overseeing the staff and operations of the Reservations Department.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Overseeing the daily room inventory management process and pricing process.
- Analyzing competitor rates and strategies to the local market and creating an action plan for Fantasyland Hotel and West Edmonton Mall Inn.
- Providing guidance and direction to the staff of the in-house Reservations Department while overseeing all management related functions for the team, including but not limited to; hiring, training, performance management and team building activities.
- Monitoring fluctuations in occupancy levels and troubleshooting when there is a decrease in vacancy.
- Working closely with other Hotel departments to align sales strategies and goals and determine how they will be met.
- Developing selling strategies that include arrival patterns, length of stay, and discount rate availability.
- Determining what online sites and other distribution channels are the most successful and create the largest revenue.
- Assessing the needs of target markets and optimizing the revenue created from these markets.
- Perform competitive benchmark studies and follow market trends and conduct daily pick-up analysis, strategy adjustments and reporting.
- Creating and maintaining a 13-month rolling demand calendar.
- Developing pricing strategies in conjunction with the individuality of each hotel property in the portfolio.
- Providing weekly dynamic forecast of expected results, variances and budget comparisons.
- Managing and overseeing strategy for all 3rd party distribution
- Responsible for assessing, analyzing and pricing group business strategies and analyzing overall monthly hotel performance and providing summary reports with recommendations to improve long-term strategies.
- Ensuring all related systems are configured correctly, validated and working to full capacity.
- Working closely with the sales team to ensure correct rate availability for contracted customers and ensuring the group allocations and reservations are handled diligently and accurately.
- Monitoring the prospective/tentative booking process to ensure accurate forecasting.
- Ensuring timely group pickup/rooming lists and channeling sales opportunities to the sales department.
- Working closely with the in-house marketing team to create marketing strategies related to rates and special pricing packages.
- Other responsibilities as required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in Revenue Management, Reservations or Hotel Management position is preferred.
- A diploma or degree in Business, Finance, Hospitality or a related field is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of the local hotel market is an asset.
- Experience budgeting, creating profit/loss concepts, percentages and variances is an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work on your own or as a part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- This is a salaried position, based on experience and qualifications.
- This is a full-time position requiring flexible availability.
- This position is also eligible for participation in our 4-day work week program.
- Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
