Reporting To: Health & Social Services Director
Overview:
The National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP) Worker will provide effective community health services, programs, and a range of strategies to meet the needs of the community while focusing on drug and alcohol abuse prevention in a way that reflects positivity on the community.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow funding agreement requirements and guidelines for the National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program and the Addictions Services Program to ensure its continued success to meet the needs of the community.
- Support community members through the referral process by providing information, assisting with phone calls, and support with filling out any documents as needed.
- Coordinate culturally sensitive training and education for community members to raise awareness of the nature of drug and alcohol abuse prevention and resources that are available.
- Educate community members on the support services that are available and assist in developing client action plans to identify and address their needs and concerns.
- Coordinate, organize, and facilitate life-skills workshops, training and activities to provide community members with the opportunity for developing healthier lives by partnering with other program staff, and by using community resources, professional networks, and local agencies.
- Develop and facilitate culturally appropriate programming to the community to provide information, awareness, and support on mental health and wellness to meet the needs of the community.
- Develop and facilitate the Addictions Service Programs to the Wahta community through education, information, and support.
- Develop and facilitate program content and activities with the focus on support and education on drug an alcohol abuse and prevention in a way that reflects positively on the community.
- Prepare an annual evaluation of the programs and services provided to ensure their ongoing success.
- Track the participation of community members in the NNDAAP programs, referral success, and other statistics to maintain records of participation needed for funders and analytics.
- Conduct other related duties and relevant tasks at an appropriate level as assigned by leadership.
- Secondary Duties (Back-up to Child & Family Services Coordinator):
- Accompany other Child Welfare agencies during investigations and gather evidence, prepare arguments, produce and prepare witnesses, and prepare draft orders and provide any other assistance as needed.
- Link families to support services assist families in accessing resources and collaborate with other supports for prevention activities.
- Act as a liaison between the Wahta Mohawks and external child welfare agencies to advocate for the best interest of the families and children.
- Represent the Wahta Mohawks whenever our children, who have been apprehended, are being adopted, or are in care, are in need of assistance.
- Assist families with the protocols of external child welfare agencies in a way that reflects positively on the community.
- Liaise with other First Nation Child Well-Being Advocate or Band Representatives to maintain and strong network.
- Provide knowledge and support for referrals and resources that fits the needs of the community members and support them through the referral process.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum College Diploma in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a similar or related position with a proven demonstration of skills.
- Minimum 2 years of working with youth/students.
- Minimum 2 years of administrative experience.
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Must be reliable and dependable, and committed to maintaining confidentiality.
- Must have the ability to work in and contribute to a team environment.
- Must have a proficient level of communication skills, verbal and written, and be comfortable dealing with the public.
- Must have the capacity to take initiative and to multi-task at times to accomplish the tasks and activities assigned.
- Knowledge of the various types of support services available to families, within the community and beyond.
- Knowledge of the legal system is an asset.
- Experience working in various First Nation environments is an asset.
- Knowledge in Kanienkeha:ka culture and history is an asset.
- Must posses a current and valid Driver's License and dependable vehicle.
Terms of Employment:
This is a temporary full-time position beginning June 1st, 2026 and ending April 30, 2027, with the possibility of extension. This role is classified as a Level 4 on the Wahta Mohawks salary grid, with a salary range of $57,700.00 to $86,300.00 annually, based on qualifications, experience, and performance.

Pay: From $29.56 per hour
