The Inside Sales Representative is a customer-facing sales and service role responsible for converting inquiries into orders, supporting repeat customer growth, and helping customers move efficiently through quoting, ordering, scheduling, and fulfillment. This position must strengthen dealer and installer relationships, protect margin through accurate pricing and order entry, and work closely with outside sales, production, warehouse, and customer experience teams to improve responsiveness, follow-up, and customer satisfaction.
Role Purpose: The purpose of this role is to improve customer responsiveness, increase quote-to-order conversion, support territory growth, and reduce administrative friction for outside sales and operations. The Inside Sales Representative should act as the first point of contact for many customers while ensuring that orders, quotes, follow-ups, and customer issues are handled quickly, accurately, and professionally
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sell residential and commercial garage doors, parts, and related materials by responding to inbound inquiries, following up on open quotes, supporting assigned customer accounts, and identifying opportunities to grow repeat business.
- Prepare quotes, sales orders, and customer purchase documentation accurately, ensuring pricing, product specifications, lead times, delivery requirements, and customer expectations are clearly captured before the order is released.
- Assist with preparing documents for packing and delivering materials.
- Follow up consistently on open quotes, inactive accounts, and customer inquiries to improve quote conversion, identify lost sales reasons, and support sales growth in assigned territories.
- Coordinate with production, warehouse, logistics, and customer experience teams to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time, while proactively communicating order status, changes, delays, or issues to customers.
- Maintain accurate customer records, contact lists, account notes, and follow-up activity while building strong relationships with dealers, installers, builders, and repeat customers.
- Act as a professional ambassador of the company with employees and customers.
- Respond to customer questions, order issues, product availability requests, and service concerns in a timely manner, escalating complex matters to the appropriate manager while maintaining ownership of follow-up until resolution.
- Adhere to all regulations, company policies, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Key Performance Indicators
- Response time to customer inquiries.
- Quote-to-order conversion rate.
- Number of follow-ups completed.
- Customer satisfaction or complaint resolution.
- Sales generated from assigned accounts.
- Accuracy of customer records in the ERP or CRM system.
- Use the company’s ERP, CRM, and reporting tools to document customer interactions, track open opportunities, update account information, and provide visibility to management on sales activity, quote status, customer issues, and follow-up priorities.
Qualifications:
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English; French is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ERP systems, CRM tools, and digital communication platforms; experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or similar systems is considered an asset.
- Strong math, pricing, quoting, invoicing, and order accuracy skills, with the ability to understand margins, discounts, freight considerations, and product specifications.
- Previous experience in the garage door, building products, manufacturing, distribution, construction supply, or installation industry is preferred.
Compensation $50,000 - $60,000 annually depending on experience
