Title: Financial Analyst (6-months temporary)
Reports to: Senior Director of Finance
Location: Saskatoon
The Financial Analyst is responsible for overseeing and supporting the financial transactions of the Company. This role involves monitoring the financial transactions for accuracy, preparing journal entries and supporting working papers, and completing month-ends for the Company.
The ideal candidate will work closely with the Senior Director of Finance to complete period-end reporting and be competent in manufacturing and construction accounting. This will be a temporary role for approximately 6 months. Responsibilities will include:
Transaction and Project Accounting

Ensure financial transactions are entered into the ERP efficiently and effectively.

Prepare journal entries and other allocations, as required, in collaboration with the Senior Director of Finance.

Monitor financial controls, ensure proper controls are in place, and ensure compliance.

Provide guidance to others within and outside the finance team on process improvements positively impacting financial reporting and results.

Coordinate completion of construction industry documents, including statutory declarations, WCB clearance letters, and other close-out documents.
Invoicing

Process invoicing for construction projects, sale of manufactured goods, and intercompany invoices.

This role will require some interaction with customers, including project managers at remote locations.
Budgeting and Forecasting

Assist in preparing annual budgets and monthly forecasts reflecting the Company’s strategic goals and objectives.

Collaborate with other team members to ensure the budget reflects sales and production objectives and provide feedback when opportunities and challenges are recognized.

Prepare 13-week cash flow forecasts.

Investigate material discrepancies between actual and budgeted costs.
Reporting

Prepare month-end, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

Work with and at times lead various teams to complete ad-hoc reporting and other year-end tasks such as SR&ED claims
Qualifications

CPA designation (including historical CA or CMA designations) is a requirement. Applicants without a designation will not be considered.

Proven experience in financial accounting, either in a similar role or time spent articling with a public accountant.

An understanding of financial controls required to run a small to medium sized business and a willingness to implement, enforce, and automate them.

Proficiency in an ERP. Microsoft AX or Dynamics ERPs considered an asset.

Experience with ERP reporting and forecasting tools. PowerBI or other dashboarding experiences will be considered an asset.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment

In office position located in Saskatoon or Nisku depending on the successful candidate’s location.
