Purpose
The Project Manager is responsible for delivery of construction projects under a variety of delivery methods including Construction Management, Design-Build, and Design-Bid-Build. The successful candidate will have a strong track record delivering Multi-Family low-mid rise projects in the Alberta market with a minimum of 5 years executing in the current role.
Duties
- Lead and manage multi-family construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring project milestones are met on schedule and within budget.
- Develop and review project plans, schedules, and budgets utilizing tools like Primavera P6 and HeavyBid.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide project execution.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to facilitate smooth communication and workflow.
- Utilize construction management software such as FieldWire, Bluebeam, Spectrum, and other relevant tools for project tracking, documentation, and reporting.
- Conduct site visits regularly to monitor progress, quality control, safety compliance, and resolve issues promptly.
- Prepare and review construction estimates and change orders to maintain profitability.
- Manage procurement processes ensuring timely acquisition of materials and equipment.
- Oversee safety protocols on-site to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Maintain detailed records of project activities, changes, and communications for accountability.
Qualifications
- Degree or Technical diploma in an appropriate construction-related field
- Five or more years of Project Management experience, preference in multi-family project delivery
- Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances, legislation and building codes.
- Commitment to working in a team environment, and good team-building abilities.
- Strong integration and problem-solving skills.
- Superior leadership qualities with a demonstrated track record of dealing successfully with internal and external clients.
- Able to interpret and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and timelines.
- Understanding of contract fundamentals, experience in managing contractors under the terms of a contract.
- Highly effective negotiation, diplomacy and conflict-resolution skills.
