Position Overview
Career Connections is currently recruiting for a reliable and detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving / Material Handler on behalf of a manufacturing client.
The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving incoming materials, verifying shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and organizing materials for production. This position involves frequent manual material handling and requires a strong commitment to safety, organization, and teamwork.
Please note: Forklift operation is not required immediately. Forklift duties will begin after approximately 1–2 months of training/onboarding, once the candidate is fully trained in receiving, inspection, inventory control, and warehouse procedures. The role is primarily focused on receiving, inspecting, sorting, and storing materials during the initial training period.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips
- Verify quantities and identify damaged or missing materials
- Safely unload, move, and store materials using pallet jacks and manual handling methods (forklift training provided later)
- Organize and stock materials in designated storage locations
- Maintain accurate inventory records and report discrepancies to the Team Lead
- Complete required paperwork and electronic documentation for incoming shipments
- Ensure materials are clearly identified and accessible for production needs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all workplace safety policies and procedures
- Collaborate with purchasing, production, and quality teams
QualificationsRequired:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs independently and up to 50 lbs as part of a team lift
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to learn warehouse processes quickly
- Reliable and safety-conscious work ethic
Preferred:
- Previous shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
- Experience with inventory systems or ERP software
- Knowledge of inventory control procedures
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
