- Assist with troubleshooting at stamping presses and repair dies.
- Set up and operate milling machines, lathes, and surface grinders.
- Measure dies parts using metric scale and inch scale.
- Disassemble and assemble to design specifications.
- Weld & operate various welding equipment.
- Experience in welding, profile grinding, cutting edges and surfaces is an asset.
- Lift dies using hoist or crane.
- Clean, polish, grind, and finish die as needed.
- Perform preventative maintenance on cast transfer and progressive dies.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Prepare templates and sketches and determine work processes.
- Compute and verify dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of work pieces.
- Fit and assemble or disassemble parts using hand tools.
Key Skills and Experience Required
- Mechanical aptitude and excellent troubleshooting ability.
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate/diploma in Tool and Die Maker, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience working with progressive, and transfer presses/dies preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years experience needed.
- Strong knowledge of machining and tool making equipment (lathes, end mills, surface grinders, welders, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret design drawings, operating and maintenance instruction, procedure manuals, informal sketches and notes.
- Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively.
- Operation of overhead crane.
- Physically fit for heavy lifting of >30 lbs.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Mindfulness and self-motivation.
- Should be able to work independently and closely with others.
- Exceptional critical thinking and time management skills.
- Need to understand GD& T.
