We are seeking energetic, creative and positive individuals to work as On-Call Substitute Early Childhood Educators in both the MPCCA Our House Preschool Programs & 3 Corners Child Care Centre. Successful applicants will be responsible for providing high quality care and education for children age 3 months to 5 years old.
The Mount Pleasant Community Centre Association (MPCCA) operates two licensed child care centres providing, care for children 3 months - 12 years old. Our mission is to provide high quality and affordable child care for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school age children. We offer nurturing environments and learning experiences for children to ready them for life-long learning and provide opportunities for children to develop physically, socially and cognitively according to their individual development and learning styles.
Our Philosophy: We honor and value play. We believe that play is essential for children to develop critical thinking skills and creativity. In our centres, children are given the opportunity to engage in developmentally appropriate learning activities and spend time exploring their world through play in both indoor and outdoor environments through an emergent based curriculum.
Qualifications:
- A valid Early Childhood Education Certificate or Assistant Certificate issued by the BC ECE Registry
- A valid First Aid Certificate
- A current Criminal Record Check clearance letter
- Ability to provide a minimum of 2 current references, one being a supervisor
- Effective guiding and caring skills
Additional Assets:
-Early Childhood Infant Toddler and/or Special Needs Certificates
- Experience working with children 0-5 years old in a Licensed Early Childhood Education Program or Recreational setting
- Food Safe Certification
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
* Ensure children’s safety and well-being when supervising children during indoor and outdoor activities
* Assist staff and children with daily care routines
* Assist in planning, preparing and implementing age appropriate, child lead, play based activities
* Assist in housekeeping duties to ensure program facilities and equipment are safe and clean
* Other duties as assigned
Rate of Pay: $21.40 per hour +$6 wage enhancement by the government if you have BC valid ECE license
Hours: On-Call, shifts vary from Monday-Friday between 7:45am-5:30pm
