About the Opportunity!
This existing vacancy reports to the Plant Manager and oversees daily manufacturing operations to ensure efficient production, adherence to quality standards, and compliance with safety regulations. This role involves managing production staff, coordinating workflow, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to meet organizational goals.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Lead a team of production skilled employees through assignment of daily job responsibilities, monitoring of performance, coaching, mentoring, training and developing employees, and providing coaching and feedback.
- Enforce company policies and procedures, including disciplinary actions when required.
- initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- Plan and coordinate daily production schedules to meet output targets.
- Monitor production processes and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety policies and procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Liaise with procurement, maintenance, engineering, and logistics teams to resolve production bottlenecks.
- Maintain accurate production records and prepare reports for management.
- Communicate goals, expectations, and performance metrics to staff.
- Identify skill gaps and recommend training programs.
- Maintain appropriate staff levels by participating in recruitment and selection of new hires.
- Manage workflow by:
- monitoring steps of the process;
- setting processing variables;
- observing control points and equipment;
- studying methods;
- implementing cost reductions;
- developing reporting procedures and systems;
- facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points;
- Act as a cultural ambassador, fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
- Review daily production plans, continuously monitoring progress and resolving problems as they arise.
- Participate in daily production meetings by providing follow up and assigning responsibilities as required.
- Maintain quality standards by following and enforcing organizational performance standards and conducting regular audits and quality control checks.
- Ensure safe operating of equipment through regular inspection, preventative maintenance and reporting of hazards.
- Provide information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions, and responding to requests.
- Act as a change management advocate by proactively engaging in process and efficiency improvements, communicating and enforcing the change.
- Resolve employee concerns by investigating in conjunction with Human Resources to identify solutions and determine recommended action, if appropriate.
WHAT DO YOU BRING?

- High School Diploma is required
- College Diploma/University degree in Business is preferred
- Certifications in Lean are considered an asset
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years’ related experience in a similar role, in a manufacturing environment; unionized experience Is preferred
- 3 years’ experience with metal fabrication, electrical and hydraulic systems
- Demonstrated strong understanding of the OHSA and its application
- Ability to manage a complex process requiring coordination and specific timing for completion
- Proven ability to effectively lead a team of skilled employees
- Knowledge of, or experience in programming would be highly beneficial
o High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel
o Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
o Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
o Demonstrated ability to work independently or within a team setting.
o Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
o Able to build and maintain positive working relationships with other departments, key business partners and dealers.
o Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
o Adaptable with a growth mindset and willingness to learn, grow and develop

The Ontario pay range for this position is $85,000 CAD to $90,000 CAD annually, prorated for the term of the contract. Ultimately, in determining pay, we will consider the successful candidate's experience, skills, knowledge, and other job-related factors.
