Kennel Attendant / Dog Care Technician
Black Hill Dog Company – Prince Edward County, ON
Black Hill Dog Company is looking for a dedicated, reliable individual to join our team.
We are a professional dog training, boarding, and breeding facility that works with dogs of all breeds, ages, and temperaments. From social butterflies to dogs enrolled in behaviour modification programs, every dog in our care deserves patience, consistency, and exceptional husbandry.
This is first and foremost an animal care position. While you'll work alongside professional trainers and gain valuable experience in canine behaviour, our priority is always the health, welfare, and daily care of the dogs. Every member of our team is expected to put the animals first. A clean environment, proper nutrition, enrichment, careful observation, and compassionate handling are the foundation of everything we do.
Experience with dogs is an asset, but it is not required. We are happy to train the right person. We're looking for someone with a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a genuine commitment to the animals in their care. This is a long-term opportunity for someone who wants to grow with our company.

- Feeding dogs according to individual diets and administering medications or supplements as directed.
- Monitoring each dog's physical health, behaviour, appetite, and overall well-being, reporting any concerns promptly.
- Providing daily exercise, enrichment, and supervised outdoor time.
- Safely handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments, including dogs with behavioural challenges.
- Bathing and basic grooming as needed.
- Laundry, dishes, stocking supplies, and maintaining an organized facility.
- Assisting trainers with moving dogs to and from training sessions while maintaining each dog's routine and safety.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate:
- Has a genuine passion for animal welfare and takes pride in providing exceptional care.
- Understands that the dogs always come first.
- Is dependable, punctual, and accountable.
- Is calm, patient, and confident around dogs of all temperaments, including fearful, reactive, or behaviourally challenging dogs.
- Is physically capable of working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment in all weather conditions.
- Has excellent attention to detail and can follow established routines and protocols.
- Works well independently and as part of a team.
- Is looking for a long-term position and is committed to growing with Black Hill Dog Company.
Requirements
- Valid Ontario driver's licence (required).
- Reliable transportation to and from our facility in Prince Edward County.
- Ability to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as required.
- Comfortable safely handling dogs weighing 100+ lbs.
- Previous experience with dogs or in animal care is an asset, but not mandatory. We provide on-the-job training for the right candidate.
