Housekeeping Supervisor

We are currently seeking a permanent, full-time Housekeeping Supervisor for our Nova Inn Yellowknife location at 4401 50th Avenue, Yellowknife, NT X1A 2N2.
Reporting to the Executive Housekeeper, the Housekeeping Supervisor supports the daily operations of the housekeeping department. This role supervises and trains housekeeping team members, inspects rooms and public areas, coordinates with Front Office and Maintenance, and helps ensure Nova Hotels’ cleanliness, comfort, safety, and guest service standards are met.
This is a hands-on role that includes both supervisory duties and active support of daily housekeeping operations. The successful candidate must have flexible availability and be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the work of room attendants, laundry attendants, and housepersons.
- Inspect guest rooms, corridors, and public areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, and quality standards are met.
- Update room status in the hotel system and communicate room readiness to the Front Office.
- Coordinate with Front Office and Maintenance regarding room status, VIP rooms, guest requests, and maintenance work orders.
- Assist with daily administration, including inventory control, discrepancy reports, arrivals lists, and housekeeping records.
- Train, coach, and support housekeeping team members in cleaning standards, safety procedures, and proper use of equipment.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and linens and prepare requests for replacements, repairs, or supplies as needed.
- Inspect assigned rooms daily to ensure Nova Hotels’ quality standards are consistently met.
- Respond to guest concerns related to room cleanliness or housekeeping service in a prompt and professional manner.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety, WSCC requirements, and company policies.
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, and security concerns immediately.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute ideas to improve efficiency, teamwork, and guest satisfaction.
- Support the housekeeping department in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper.
- Complete other duties and projects as assigned.
Education: Secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
Experience: 1 to 2 years of experience in a hospitality cleaning or housekeeping role is required. Previous supervisory, team lead, or housekeeping inspection experience is preferred.
Language: Fluent English is required. Additional languages are considered an asset.
Work eligibility: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

- Professional communication with guests, team members, Front Office, and Maintenance.
- Ability to remain calm and solution-focused when handling guest concerns or operational issues.
- Understanding of safe work practices, including proper use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while leading a team.
- Standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting are required throughout the shift.
- Frequent movement between guest rooms, public areas, laundry areas, and storage areas.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and high-traffic guest areas.
- Shift work, weekends, and holidays are required.
