Property Manager & Maintenance Person

Elizabeth Fry Society Simcoe Muskoka is hiring a part-time Property Manager & Maintenance person. We are looking for someone who has experience in building and property maintenance, who posse’s strong interpersonal skills to assist in the maintenance of our emergency shelter, transitional housing, and supportive housing program sites.

Position Summary:
The Property Manager/Maintenance position is under the direction of the Manager of Facilities, and be responsible for general building upkeep and repairs, maintenance of the grounds, meeting with trades and contractors, and performing routine inspections.
Location:
This position will be primarily stationed at 102 Maple Ave, Barrie, but will be required to travel to other locations and cities within Simcoe County.
Key Responsibilities:
· Drywall repairs & painting
· Dealing with clogged sinks & toilets
· Caulking & re-caulking washrooms fixtures
· Replacing light bulbs
· Cutting grass, snow removal, salting, etc.
· Hanging blinds & Curtains
· Assembling & maintaining bed frames
· Basic plumbing repairs
· Performing routine site inspections (checking for damaged plumbing, electrical, doors, locks, drywall, etc.)
Qualifying Education/Experience:
· 2+ years of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, property management experience
· Valid WHIMIS Certification
· CPR and First Aid Certification would be an asset
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational & communication skills
Knowledge/Attributes:
· A successful candidate should demonstrate a basic understanding of household and commercial electrical and plumbing systems. Have some knowledge of drywall repair, preparation, painting, caulking, etc.
· A successful candidate should be computer, and smartphone literate, and should be able to use excel, word, email, text, etc. with confidence.
· Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Be eager to learn and adapt with a fast-paced environment.
· An awareness of issues faced by those experiencing homelessness with a thorough understanding of racism, classism, sexism, homophobia and violence against women, girls and LGBQTTS communities.
· Commitment to the principles of social justice including recognizing the value and dignity of all persons irrespective of culture, status, gender, age, education, appearance, beliefs or contribution to society regardless of ability.
· Bi-lingual in French and English is an asset.

Wage: $22.98 per hour
