AFS Compression is currently seeking a motivated Apprentice Technician to join our team. This position will support day-to-day field operations with a primary focus on natural gas compression and power generation equipment. AFS Compression provides service and maintenance for a wide range of rotating equipment and support systems in the natural gas industry.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
- Completion of first-year technical training in Heavy Duty Mechanic, Millwright, or Natural Gas Compression (NGC) Technician program
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in the natural gas industry
- Familiarity with Waukesha, Caterpillar, and Cummins gas engines
- Familiarity with reciprocating and screw compressors
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Valid H₂S Alive and Standard First Aid certifications
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and show initiative
- Reliable, with a willingness to work long hours, weekends, and within a 2-hour radius of Evansburg, AB
- Genuine desire to learn and grow within the trade
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Journeyman Technicians with field service and maintenance activities
- Perform rebuilds and repairs on various mechanical equipment in both field and shop environments
- Deliver parts to field locations as required
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and a strong safety culture in the workplace
- Complete necessary paperwork, reports, and documentation accurately and on time
- Participate in required training, orientations, and safety programs
- Travel and work within a 2-hour radius of Evansburg, Alberta
This role involves an unpredictable work schedule, including weekends and extended hours as dictated by operational needs.
