Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Deckhand to support vessel operations in the North Saskatchewan River. As Deckhand you will be responsible for assisting with docking, cargo handling, vessel maintenance, and ensuring the safety of all personnel and passengers on board. You must have availability to work long days/weekends and be comfortable working in all weather conditions. You will play a vital role in the daily operations and upkeep of the vessel, adhering to all federal and provincial governing body safety protocols and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist with the safe mooring and unmooring of the vessel during docking and departure.

Handle lines, fenders and deck gear in a safe and efficient manner.

Maintain cleanliness and appearance of our vessel, including regular cleaning of decks, windows, garbages, washrooms, and passenger areas.

Assist our Captain and crew with navigation support and lookout duties when required.

Communicate effectively with crew members and follow directions promptly.

You must be a team player.

Report hazards, damage or potential operational issues to supervisors.

Support loading and unloading of supplies as needed.

Support basic maintenance tasks including but not limited to painting, minor repairs and organizing equipment on board.

Follow safety procedures at all times, assist in emergency drills, and support crew during any incidents.

Provide friendly and professional assistance to passengers during boarding, disembarking while underway and additional duties as needed.
Qualifications:

Current MED A2 (Marine Emergency Duties) certificate or STCW (Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping) Certificate.

Must be comfortable working in marine environment.

Position requires physical labour (carrying, lifting, dragging, pushing, pulling)

Ability to work independently and maintain accurate record keeping of work performed.

Proficient in English.
