If you are a bold self-motivated person with excellent communication skills and are looking to accept a daily challenge helping at a non-for-profit organization working with children with developmental disabilities while gaining experience as an respite assistant this is the position for you! This is an ideal opportunity for fresh graduates or even students to get trained and make a successful career.
This experience can assists you as you work towards career goals in fields such as social work, nursing, teaching child care and a variety of other practices. You will be required to work in a group setting to teaches AI concepts and digital skills to special needs children between the ages of 6-18 years of age.
To be eligible, youth must:
- Applicants must meet the minimum legal working age requirements and be eligible under the applicable youth employment program at the start of employment.
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Camp leader to conduct different activities in the camp
- Ensure all campers feel welcome and stay safe
- Teach students the knowledge of AI and how to apply to the daily life
- Prepare and execute lessons, drills and games using AI
- Provide coaching instruction in a manner that takes individual differences in skill and learning styles into account
- Create a fun and inclusive environment for staff and campers
- Work with kids with special needs with games and activities
- Follow camp-wide policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Experienced working with kids (experience working with children, youth, or young adults with special needs would be an asset).
- First Aid and CPR certifications is preferred.
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
- Caring, patient, friendly and professional.
- Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for staff and clients within a challenging environment.
- Mandarin would be an asset.
