About the role:
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, supporting month-end processes, and ensuring accurate financial and inventory reporting. This role requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to navigate complex regulatory requirements such as CRA excise duty and CTLS reporting.
Duties and responsibilities (include and are not limited to):
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring all invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements.
- Prepare GST/HST returns.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
- Prepare weekly pay runs by summarizing outstanding accounts payable.
- Assist the Financial Controller in the preparation of management reports.
- Interact with customers and vendors to resolve differences in balances.
- Liaise with external auditors as required.
- Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable.
- Request and organize receipts from management.
- Match purchase orders with receiving documents and invoices.
- Enter received inventory amounts and reconcile inventory balances in the inventory management system.
- Prepare and reconcile CRA excise duty fillings and CTLS inventory and sales reporting to ensure regulatory compliance on a monthly basis.
- Calculate, track, and reconcile RTV tax credits, ensuring proper documentation and accurate financial reporting.
- Work with the Inventory Management Team in the purchasing of excise stamps.
- Develop and utilize advanced Excel tools, such as pivot tables, to analyze financial and inventory data, identify variances, and support reporting needs.
- Potential for Ad hoc projects.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications/competencies:
- A diploma or degree in accounting or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a cannabis or related industry.
- Knowledge working with QuickBooks and ERP systems.
- Advanced proficiency using Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook.
- Understanding of Cannabis Regulations, cannabis extract products, of cannabis, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong ability to multitask, problem solve, and meet deadlines.
- Flexible and open to new tasks and projects.
- Knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations preferred.
- Punctual and reliable.
