Bear Camp is a rustic, off-grid wilderness lodge located on the shores of Chilko Lake. We welcome guests from around the world who come to experience incredible fishing, hiking, paddling, wildlife viewing, and the beauty of British Columbia's backcountry.
We're looking for an experienced, self-motivated chef who enjoys cooking from scratch, thrives in remote environments, and wants to be part of a small, supportive team creating unforgettable guest experiences.
Food is at the heart of what we do. After each day of adventure, guests gather around the table to relax, share stories, and enjoy great meals together. As our chef, you'll play a central role in creating those moments.
What You'll Do
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, appetizers, dinner, and desserts for guests and staff
- Plan menus that showcase fresh, high-quality meals
- Accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies
- Order food and supplies for a remote location
- Manage kitchen inventory and minimize waste
- Maintain a clean, organized, and FoodSafe-compliant kitchen and storage areas
- Work collaboratively with guides, lodge crew, and management
- Interact with guests and contribute to the welcoming, family-style atmosphere of camp
- Support the day-to-day operation of a remote wilderness lodge
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a chef or lead cook preparing meals for groups of up to 24 people
- Experience with menu planning, food ordering, and inventory management
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Comfortable working independently in a remote, off-grid environment
- Positive attitude and willingness to be part of an "all hands on deck" team
- FoodSafe certification (required)
- First Aid & CPR (preferred)
- Experience in remote lodges, camps, fishing lodges, or tourism operations is an asset
