JOB OPPORTUNITY
PRINCIPAL
Anspayaxw Academy is seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic Principal to lead our School Team. Your primary role will be to provide guidance and support to students, teachers, and education staff; you will report to the Anspayaxw Education Society Board.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor of Education or other Bachelor degree (Masters preferred);
- BC Teacher Certification, or certification in progress, or ability to obtain an LoP;
- 3+ years working in classroom-based, online, and distance learning environments;
- 3+ years working with Indigenous adults in education and training environments;
- Knowledge of Gitxsan language and cultural traditions;
- Experience writing funding proposals and reporting to funding organizations;
- Experience tracking and reporting expenditures;
- Experience collaborating with, supporting, and motivating a small team;
- Ability to navigate the challenges of facilitating community-based education programs;
- Ability to supervise and teach a variety of courses at all levels, Grade 8-12;
- Understanding of B.C. Adult Graduation Diploma (Adult Dogwood) requirements;
- Understanding of Individual Learning Plans and SMART goal setting;
- Excellent oral, written, and digital skills – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint (or similar);
- Experience of Microsoft TEAMS as a collaborative tool and learning platform;
- Ability to make sound decisions in difficult situations and to work under time constraints;
- Reliable personal transportation. Class 5 driver's license; Class 4 preferred. Combination of education and work experience considered.
Preference given to qualified Indigenous applicants.
Terms:
Position requires a formal criminal record check; results may preclude an offer of employment. Start date: 6-July, 2026 End date: 30-June, 2027
Regular Schedule: *8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday (35 hours/week) Wage Range: $34 - $36/hour based on qualifications and experience *NOTE: Schedule adjusted to meet program needs; some evening / weekend hours required. Application Details:
