This six-month position reports to the Purchasing and Stores Supervisor and is responsible for receiving, maintaining, handling, issuing, and shipping incoming and outgoing supplies, tools and equipment. They are also responsible for maintaining transformer system records in a timely and accurate manner and performing weekly cycle counting and reconciliation to ensure integrity of inventory quantities.
Skills/Abilities/Knowledge
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Competent in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Office
- Ability to remain organized in a fast paced, changing environment
- Ability to deal with the public and all levels of staff in a courteous and tactful manner
- Demonstrated flexibility working in a team environment
- Available to work after hours, accident calls, yard maintenance, spill clean-up and mandatory year end inventories
- Ability to complete basic barcoding tasks
- Ability to lift or move objects up to 48.4 lbs
- Must be able to operate all stores handling equipment and maintain a valid Ontario Class ‘G’ driver’s license, and Forklift Certificate
- Requires a minimum knowledge of various jobs and tasks performed in an inventory environment and to have the physical ability to work in the stores
Experience/Education
- Experience with JD Edwards ERP software an asset
- Secondary school graduation diploma, APICS Certification would be an asset
Major (Primary) Responsibilities
- Assemble and issue stores material from requisitions and all non-stock material requests
- Receive and inspect all incoming shipments for damage, verify material, quantity and match to purchase orders
- Receive, store and ship materials using handling equipment, such as various forklifts, pump trucks, Reach trucks, carts and dollies
- Perform physical inventory and weekly cycle counts
- Update inventory and maintain records appropriate to stores operation including personal protective equipment, safety clothing and equipment
- Complete warehouse inventory transfers
- Maintain testing program for rubber gloves, rubber cover-up, ratchet hoists and other devices as required
- Complete reel returns including adjustments
- Interact with Trucking companies, couriers, and MRO suppliers
- Daily administrative transactions
- Maintain and promote a safe and healthy work environment, and comply with corporate safety policies as well as applicable codes, such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Electrical Utility Safety Rules
