Buyer/Purchasing position - Brampton - Manufacturing $75 to 85K base + Full Benefits
Position Summary
Our client, a food manufacturer is looking for Buyer to be responsible for cost-effective sourcing and accurate planning of raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and supplies to ensure uninterrupted production. This role combines strategic procurement with materials planning to support efficiency, cost control, and reliable supply across facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate and uphold the company’s Core Values.
- Negotiate supply contracts for materials and services to secure optimal cost and quality.
- Prepare and manage purchase orders and supply contracts for raw materials in alignment with production requirements.
- Manage annual purchasing cycles for ingredients and packaging, ensuring accurate forecasting and supply continuity.
- Partner with Sales and Operations to align short- and long-term material plans with the production schedule.
- Maintain accurate ERP data for materials, suppliers, forecasts, and purchase orders.
- Complete required quota applications, reconciliations, and trade-related documentation.
- Negotiate transportation and freight arrangements to optimize cost and service.
- Administer carrier and warehouse claims and validate freight/warehouse invoices for accuracy.
- Identify and implement cost-saving and value-improvement opportunities.
- Lead or support RFPs and supplier benchmarking activities.
- Ensure all materials delivered meet company specifications and quality standards.
- Provide cross-training within the department and ensure adequate coverage for planned/unplanned absences.
- Demonstrate Servant Leadership through collaboration and support of internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with SQF, HACCP, and all relevant food-safety and regulatory requirements.
- Support continuous improvement of procurement, planning, and supply chain processes.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and organizational philosophy.
Ideal Qualifications
- College or University with 4+ years of buying/purchasing experience, ideally in food, packaging, or raw materials
- SCMP certification or progress toward it is an asset.
- Strong understanding of product costing, inventory flow, and procurement fundamentals.
- Experience in food manufacturing or other regulated industries preferred.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office and ERP systems.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.

Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
