JAbout the Role
We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Field Inspector with a strong background in underground utilities and telecommunications construction. This role is responsible for ensuring all field operations comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, with a strong focus on hazard identification, prevention, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular field inspections on active job sites (hydrovac, trenching, directional drilling, telecom installs, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and applicable regulations
- Monitor safe work practices related to underground utility locates, excavation, and telecom infrastructure
- Identify hazards and implement corrective actions in real time
- Conduct site audits, safety meetings, and toolbox talks
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and utility strikes; prepare detailed reports including root cause analysis
- Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to company safety policies
- Work closely with supervisors, foremen, and crews to reinforce a strong safety culture
- Assist in maintaining and improving the company’s Health & Safety Program
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a Health & Safety role within underground utilities, civil construction, or telecom
- Strong understanding of:
- Utility locates and exposure procedures
- Directional drilling and hydrovac operations
- Trenching and excavation safety
- Solid knowledge of Ontario safety regulations, including the OHSA and construction regulations
- Experience conducting incident investigations and writing reports
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and travel between job sites
Certifications (Preferred / Required)
- COR (Certificate of Recognition) experience or training
- Working at Heights (Ontario)
- First Aid & CPR
- Valid driver’s license with clean abstract

Pay: $17.20-$25.00 per hour
