About the Position
NM MFG Inc. is looking for an experienced Brake Press Operator to join our fabrication team. The successful candidate will be able to set up and safely operate brake press equipment, read blueprints and engineering drawings, produce accurate bends and verify finished parts against specified dimensions and tolerances.
This position is suited to a dependable, detail-oriented operator who takes pride in quality work and works well with production, quality and other members of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and safely operate brake press equipment to form sheet metal and fabricated components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, bend details and part specifications.
- Select and install the correct tooling and determine appropriate bend sequences for each job.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using tape measures, calipers, angle gauges and other measuring equipment.
- Adjust machine settings and tooling as required to maintain dimensions, angles and specified tolerances.
- Identify drawing, material or quality concerns and communicate them promptly to the supervisor or Quality Department.
- Complete production information accurately and maintain material and part identification.
- Follow all safety procedures, quality requirements and approved work instructions.
- Keep the machine and surrounding work area clean, safe and organized.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum one year of experience working in a metal fabrication shop.
- Minimum one year of hands-on experience setting up or operating brake press equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Working knowledge of sheet metal forming, bend sequences, tooling and basic shop mathematics.
- Ability to use common measuring and inspection equipment accurately.
- Strong attention to detail with a consistent focus on quality and safety.
- Reliable attendance and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position, with accommodation available upon request.
- Must own vehicle, public transportation is not available.
Preferred Assets
- Experience with CNC brake press setup or programming.
- Experience working with different material types, gauges and formed components.
- Previous experience using an overhead crane or forklift.
