Career Opportunity
ISE is seeking a Mechanical Technologist to support the production and integration of advanced subsea vehicles and robotic systems!
Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, this role sits at the exciting intersection of design and manufacturing, where your work directly contributes to bringing complex subsea and robotic systems to life. You will play a hands-on role in building, refining, and delivering innovative mechanical solutions that perform in some of the world’s most demanding underwater environments.
From concept through to deployment, you will help ensure designs are manufacturable, scalable, reliable, and ready for real-world application. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology within a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering team, supporting impactful projects across commercial, scientific, and defence sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Support manufacturing and integration of subsea vehicles, robotic systems, and associated mechanical assemblies.
- Design and develop custom tooling, fixtures, and production aids to support efficient and repeatable builds.
- Evaluate and improve manufacturing and assembly processes, with a focus on quality, reliability, and scalability.
- Contribute to new product introduction (NPI) and engineering change activities.
- Develop and maintain assembly procedures, work instructions, and test documentation.
- Review mechanical drawings for accuracy, standards compliance, and manufacturability.
- Participate in engineering and production reviews, providing practical, hands-on input.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and control systems engineering.
- Ensure compliance with quality management processes and documentation standards.
- Identify opportunities to reduce production risk and improve system performance and reliability.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience supporting manufacturing in a complex mechanical or engineered systems environment.
- Experience designing tooling, fixtures, or assembly aids.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Solidworks) and mechanical drafting standards.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a production-focused engineering environment.
- Ability to reliably commute to the workplace and travel internationally.
