Summary
We are seeking a Manager of Engineering to provide both strategic and hands‑on leadership across the software development lifecycle, ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and high‑performing technology solutions.
Scope of Responsibility
The Engineering Manager oversees all engineering activities that support customer‑facing products, internal systems, and mission‑critical financial services. Responsibilities include leading technical design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance across multiple teams and initiatives. The role ensures alignment between engineering priorities and business objectives, translating strategic goals into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
This leader manages, mentors, and develops engineering staff, promoting strong coding practices, secure development standards, and high‑quality delivery. They play a central role in enabling agile execution, coordinating closely with Product, QA, Security, and Operations to ensure smooth releases, rapid issue resolution, and continuous innovation. The Engineering Manager also safeguards the integrity of systems handling sensitive financial data by enforcing compliance, strengthening security posture, and maintaining operational resilience.
Education & Experience
- Formal education in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and extensive hands‑on technical experience.
- Advanced certifications such as CSM or PMP that demonstrate capability in structured delivery, project leadership, and cross‑functional coordination.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in software development, including deep exposure to modern engineering practices, architectural decision‑making, and secure coding standards.
- 3+ years of direct leadership experience, managing engineering teams, driving delivery outcomes, and overseeing technical strategy.
- Experience in financial services or other regulated industries, with familiarity in compliance, audit requirements, and secure system design considered a strong asset.
- Proven track record leading the delivery of cloud‑based, scalable, and resilient systems, including modernization initiatives and cloud migration programs.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, balance strategic and tactical responsibilities, and deliver results under time‑sensitive conditions.
- Strong documentation and communication background, ensuring clarity in technical specifications, architectural decisions, and stakeholder updates.
Technical Competencies
- Deep understanding of full‑stack software development, including front‑end, back‑end, APIs, databases, and distributed systems.
- Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including cloud‑native architectures, containerization, and infrastructure‑as‑code.
- Strong grounding in engineering best practices, including secure coding, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps workflows, and observability.
- Ability to evaluate and guide architectural decisions, ensuring scalability, performance, reliability, and long‑term maintainability.
- Proficiency in reviewing code, technical designs, and documentation, providing constructive feedback that elevates engineering quality.
- Experience with compliance frameworks relevant to financial systems (PCI‑DSS, SOC 2, PIPEDA), and the ability to embed these requirements into engineering processes.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex issues across multiple layers of the technology stack.
- Familiarity with modern development tooling, version control, backlog management systems, and engineering productivity platforms.
Pay: $110,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
