The Commercial Service Glazier is responsible for the installation, repair, adjustment, and maintenance of commercial glazing systems, aluminum entrances, automatic doors, hardware, and related building envelope components. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently while representing the company professionally on customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair commercial aluminum entrance systems, storefronts, curtain wall, and glazing assemblies.
- Replace broken or failed glass, insulated glass units (IGUs), tempered glass, laminated glass, and specialty glazing products.
- Install and adjust commercial doors, frames, pivots, closers, panic hardware, continuous hinges, weatherstripping, thresholds, and locking hardware.
- Troubleshoot water infiltration, air leaks, door alignment issues, and hardware failures.
- Perform emergency service calls, including board-ups and temporary glazing repairs.
- Install and replace commercial mirrors, glass partitions, and specialty glazing systems.
- Read work orders, shop drawings, and specifications to complete work accurately.
- Safely remove and dispose of damaged glazing materials.
- Operate glass handling equipment, lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and power tools safely.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in clean working condition.
- Accurately document work performed, materials used, and service recommendations.
- Communicate professionally with customers, property managers, general contractors, and coworkers.
- Identify additional repair opportunities and communicate recommendations to the Service Manager.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and company quality standards.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of commercial glazing or aluminum entrance service experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Storefront systems
- Curtain wall systems
- Commercial door hardware
- Glass replacement techniques
- Automatic door systems (asset)
- Sealants and waterproofing
- Ability to troubleshoot complex service issues.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
