Job Title: Food Machine Operator (Flow Wrapper / Vemag / Oven)

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Food Machine Operator to set up, operate, and maintain critical processing and packaging machinery, including horizontal flow wrappers, Vemag portioning systems, and commercial industrial ovens. The successful candidate will ensure all products meet strict quality, weight, and safety standards while maintaining high production efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Operation & Setup
- Flow Wrapper: Set up, calibrate, and operate horizontal flow wrap packaging machinery. Monitor film tracking, sealing temperatures and ensure smooth operations.
- Vemag Stuffer/Portioner: Assemble, program, and operate Vemag filling and portioning equipment. Monitor product weights and adjust pump speeds to ensure precise portion control.
- Industrial Ovens: Program baking profiles, monitor internal oven temperatures, and manage dwell times for continuous or batch cooking cycles.
Quality & Food Safety
- Perform hourly weight checks, seal integrity inspections, and metal detector verifications to guarantee compliance with QA standards.
- Strictly follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Document and log hourly production data, batch codes, oven temperatures, and waste tracking sheets.
Sanitation & Maintenance
- Perform efficient changeovers between product runs, including adjusting forming shoes, changing film rolls, and swapping Vemag attachments (e.g., cutters, horns).
- Conduct safe teardown, sanitation, and reassembly of machine parts during washdowns using proper chemical safety techniques.
- Identify mechanical abnormalities, perform basic troubleshooting, and report larger issues to the maintenance team to minimize downtime.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience operating machinery in food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods (CPG). Direct experience with flow wrappers, Vemag systems, or industrial ovens is highly asset.
- Technical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to use touch-screen HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces) and hand tools for equipment adjustments.
- Physical Capabilities: Ability to stand for extended periods (8–12 hours), work in varying temperature environments (hot near ovens, cool in processing rooms), and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Communication: Good English communication skills (verbal and written) to complete logbooks and coordinate with the production team.
