The Total Rewards team is seeking a Pension & Benefits Analyst to support the administration, governance, and continuous improvement of Metrolinx's pension and benefits programs. As part of the Total Rewards team, you will provide technical expertise, analytical support, and employee guidance while helping ensure our programs remain compliant, competitive, and employee focused.
This is a full-time long-term contract opportunity for 18 months.
What will I be doing?
Provide analytical and subject matter expertise to support pension and benefits programs, policies, and projects.
Serve as a key contact for pension and benefits inquiries from employees, retirees, dependents, and beneficiaries.
Administer Metrolinx's registered pension plans and pension-related programs, ensuring compliance with legislation, plan rules, and administrative guidelines.
Review pension calculations, payment authorizations, and plan administration activities for accuracy and compliance.
Validate, authorize, and process benefits invoices and vendor payments, ensuring accuracy, appropriate approvals, budget alignment, and compliance with contractual obligations.
Support the administration of health, dental, life, disability, and retirement programs, identifying opportunities for program enhancements and operational improvements.
Analyze data, conduct audits, and prepare reports to support decision-making, compliance monitoring, and program effectiveness.
Manage the TR and Compensation shared inbox, responding to inquiries in a timely manner and directing requests to the appropriate team members or stakeholders as required.
Maintain pension and benefits documentation, compliance calendars, policies, and administrative practices.
Support the review and development of pension and benefits programs based on legislation, market trends, employee needs, and industry best practices.
Deliver pension and benefits education through employee communications, presentations, and individual consultations.
Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Finance, Audit, and external vendors to ensure effective program delivery and strong vendor performance.
Conduct audits and ad-hoc analyses to recommend new or updated policies and/or procedures.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated years of experience administering pension and benefit programs, preferably within a large, complex, unionized organization.
CEBS, CBP, or a related pension/benefits designation is considered an asset.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and develop practical recommendations.
Knowledge of pension and benefits legislation, governance, and industry practices, including pension and tax regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Experience working with HR systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a commitment to delivering high-quality client service.
Ability to manage competing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
