Flexographic Printing Press Operator
wW are hiring Flexographic Printing Press Operator for one of our clients in Cobourg location. An individual is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring flexographic printing presses to produce quality flexible packaging according to customer specifications, company standards, HACCP, GMP, food safety, and workplace safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate flexographic printing presses, including job changeovers, plate/sleeve
- mounting, and material installation.
- Prepare and mix inks, manage lacquer application, and maintain approved color standards.
- Set and adjust registration, pressure, tension, speed, drying, and other press parameters.
- Monitor print quality and perform first-off and in-process inspections; identify and correct
- defects.
- Maintain production records, including output, material usage, waste, downtime, and
- consumables.
- Monitor and report usage of inks, solvents, lacquer, mounting tape, lubricants, and other
- consumables.
- Perform routine cleaning, sanitation, basic preventative maintenance, and housekeeping.
- Troubleshoot operating and print-quality issues and report breakdowns or abnormalities
- promptly.
- Minimize waste, rework, and downtime through efficient operation and timely corrective action.
- Properly handle, label, store, and organize materials and chemicals to prevent contamination
- and mix-ups.
- Follow all SOPs, HACCP, GMP, food safety, PPE, and workplace safety requirements.
- Maintain 5S standards and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Previous flexographic printing press experience required.
- Experience in flexible packaging or film printing preferred.
- Knowledge of flexographic printing, plate mounting, ink mixing, registration, and changeovers.
- Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Basic computer skills and ability to complete production records.
- Ability to read job specifications, artwork, and color standards.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- HACCP/GMP and food packaging experience is an asset.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work shifts and overtime as required.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to printing equipment, noise, inks, solvents, lacquer,
- and lubricants.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
- PPE is mandatory.
- Must comply with HACCP, GMP, food safety, and workplace safety requirements.
- Overtime and shift work may be required based on production needs.
Pay: $23.00-$28.00 per hour
