Churchill Academy is an independent, not for profit school specializing in delivering a curriculum to meet the educational needs of students with learning challenges.
We are seeking a fulltime Grade 6 teacher for the 2026/2027 school year. Qualified candidates should be comfortable with implementing individual program plans and delivering programming that is tailored to each student.
Duties:
- Create and implement lesson plans that align with the curriculum guidelines
- Utilize different teaching methods and resources to engage students and promote active learning
- Assess student performance through tests, quizzes, projects, and assignments
- Provide individualized attention and support to students with learning challenges
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to develop interdisciplinary projects and activities
- Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians
- Organize and supervise extracurricular activities, such as clubs or field trips
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of the subject matter being taught
- Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to students of varying abilities
- Proficient in using educational technology tools for instruction and assessment
- Excellent classroom management skills to create a positive learning environment
- Understanding of special education strategies and accommodations
- A background in physical education or coaching would be considered an asset.
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field. A teaching certification is also required.

Pay: $54,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
