We are looking forward to adding a Service Technician for our Toronto office. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter working in an entrepreneurial environment focused on customer service.
Responsibilities include:
- Qualified individual to execute field start-ups as well as troubleshoot and commission steam, hot water, control and critical error HVAC related equipment.
- Regular mechanical repairs and maintenance in designated area.
- Responsible for dismantling, repairing and reassembling mechanical equipment.
- Carry-out energy audits.
- Demonstrate initiative to work independently with the ability to meet deadlines within a stressful environment. Possess sound working knowledge of HVAC fundamentals, systems, equipment, and controls.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, control & electrical diagrams, and understand requirements for all on-site installation and repairs by extensively examining building layouts, updating issues, gathering materials and synchronizing onsite work.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, customers, electricians and other trades on construction projects.
- Maintain assigned stock of inventory, company equipment, and document all related activities by completing paperwork on each job, including daily time, progress, and duration.
- Provide training and follow-up training at customer sites.
- Keep current on products and their advances, including installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of systems and devices.
- Able to work with third party equipment/controls and understand BACnet, Modbus and other building automaton communications.
Requirements:
- Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school and/or 1-2 years of experience in controls and building automation systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic HVAC knowledge
- Practical knowledge of start-up and commissioning HVAC equipment
- 2 years’ experience with Phoenix Controls products and lab ventilation systems
- 2 years’ experience with Tridium Niagara 4 platform
- 2 years’ experience with BACnet protocol integration
- Basic computer skills, including information processing using Microsoft excel, Microsoft word is essential.
- Comfortable working from heights and using a ladder.
- Willing to travel within Ontario.
- Must be willing to work independently and in a team environment.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations and clear criminal record.
- UHN and Infrastructure Ontario security clearance
- This position requires working in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock (high voltage).
This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, and kneeling. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift and or move up to 40 lbs and occasionally lift and or move more than 40 lbs
